1. Introduction and Policy Statement

Humanity School of Learning is committed to the safeguarding and protection of all children in our care. 5. Role and Responsibilities

Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

The school has appointed a senior staff member as the Designated Safeguarding Lead responsible for:

  • Managing child protection concerns
  • Reporting serious incidents to authorities
  • Keeping detailed records
  • Ensuring staff training and awareness

All Staff and Volunteers Must:

  • Recognise possible signs of abuse
  • Report concerns immediately to the DSL
  • Treat all disclosures seriously
  • Respond appropriately and confidentially

Parents and Caregivers

Parents are encouraged to:

  • Engage with the school’s child protection approach
  • Report concerns
  • Support safe practices at home and online

6. Reporting and Response Procedures

If anyone (staff, volunteer, parent, student or visitor) has a concern about a child, they must:

  1. Report the concern immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead
  2. Provide clear information about the issue
  3. Cooperate with any investigation
  4. Maintain confidentiality where required

The DSL will assess the report and take appropriate action, which may include:

  • Referring to social services
  •  Notifying law enforcement, where necessary
  •  Supporting the child within school
  •  Informing parents, where appropriate
